Richard Ruggiero grew up in a large Canadian-Italian family in what was then the western suburb of Toronto, Etobicoke. Richard's interest for painting was piqued at the age of eight and he was fortunate to receive private instruction for three years from a local artist: Simone Grinberga. While working with Grinberga, Richard's passion for painting large landscapes with loose brushwork was born.

Richard continued with formal fine arts training at Western University before receiving his HBA from Ivey Business School in 2013. Richard is currently working in the fashion industry for a department store's buying team.

Along with his friend and classmate Mary Wong, Richard exhibited his recent work at a show called "Splash" in West Toronto's gallery district in October of 2015.
